How To Use The Free Printable Counting Mats

There are ten number mats and each mat includes a number, a number word, and a picture to complete with playdough.
Here is what you will need for this activity:
- Playdough number mats 1-10 pdf (download at the end of the post)
- Playdough in different colors (green, purple, red, yellow, and blue)
- Laminating machine to make the sheets reusable
Print the counting mats and get the playdough ready.

Start from one and work your way up to ten. Your child will take one sheet, check if they recognize the number, and tell you what it is. They will then take playdough and formulate the number on the sheet as well as try and formulate the alphabets to form the number word. This practices writing skills.

Next, your child should count the number of blank circles that they have to fill in with playdough. Doing this will develop their counting skills. Let them take playdough and fill in the blank circles to complete the picture. Using playdough to fill in the numbers and circles develops your child’s sensory and fine motor skills.

Do this for all the number mats. Repeat this activity as many times as you want and bring a fun element each time. Pretend you are having a birthday party when doing the mat with the cake, or pretend it’s a hot day and you need ice cream when completing the mat with ice cream.
Remember, your child doesn’t have to count all the time, you can simply complete the pictures by filling in the empty spaces on a lazy day.
