When your little one is able to read from 1 to 10 or 20, They need to start learning to associate those numbers with their quantities. Initially, counting can seem confusing to your child, especially if they are used to doing alphabet activities.

Counting clip cards are a great way of learning to count while having fun. Clipping the cards or pasting stickers and working with playdough will add a fun element and will make sure the activity is memorable. Your child will not even see that they are actually learning.
Start with a few cards and increase them as they get the grasp of counting. For toddlers, 1-5 clip cards will work just fine. Preschoolers who can count from 1 to 10 and beyond can do more cards all the way up to 20.
Whichever age group your little one falls in, let them work through the cards at their pace, take a break if they are not interested, and try again later. The idea is for them to actually enjoy while learning.
How To Use The Counting Clip Cards
If your child easily gets bored by repetitive activities, they will love these counting clip cards. Just like with these ABC clip cards, there are different fun ways you can make the cards interesting and interactive for them.
Prepare The Cards For Use

The printable pdf has 10 pages each having 2 cards. Download and print it out. Laminate them to make them reusable. You can also use cardstock paper for printing. Cut out individual cards so that you have 20 cards with pictures and numbers.
Learning To Count With Counting Clip Cards
If your child has only started learning to count, start with the number 1 and work your way up. Pick a card and count the number of fruits on that card. Get a clothespin and pin the number that corresponds to the number of fruits.

Pressing clothespins develops fine motor skills while clipping on the cards improves hand-eye coordination. You can use wooden clothespins however, colored ones look more interesting for small children.
Use Stickers
Pick a card and count the number of fruits on the picture. Look at the numbers on the right and pick the correct number. Now take a sticker and paste it on the correct number that matches the fruits.

Doing this will also perfect hand-eye coordination as well as develop those fine motor skills.
Counting And Matching With Playdough
Instead of using clothespins and stickers, use playdough to bring more fun to the activity.
Let your little one pick the number that corresponds to the number of fruits and place playdough on it.

You can use different colors to make things interesting and more colorful!
In addition to hand-eye coordination and motor skills, using playdough develops sensory skills as well.
Plan to have some extra time after doing this activity. Chances are high that your little one might want to take this playdough fun further and start rolling, forming figures, pressing, etc.
You can also use finger paint, crayons, or even cut out the other numbers and only leave the correct number on the cut.
